It really doesn't make sense for the Lakers to put him on their g-league team unless he's significantly more promising than another candidate.
All things being equal, you'd rather not have the Ball-family headaches that come with him.
But that's his double-edged sword: The Ball-family thing is the only reason he's getting attention in the first place, but it also makes him less desirable than someone without that spotlight. | wrong.
the guy lead california in scoring 1 year ago. that is the reason he's getting a look. the kid can play basketball at a high level. now can he play at the highest level? ehhhh we dont know about that yet.
you guys keep trying to disrespect him as if he didnt have his own legit resume as a high school standout in basketball. he's only 1 year removed from chino hills.
the problem with gelo is that he doesnt LOOK like much. meaning, with his actual on the court abilities playing 5 v 5 in real games. he's a very good basketball player. but in a workout, in some type of drill setup. i would pass up on him every single time. because he's not a super quick guy, he's not fast, he doesnt jump the highest, he can shoot well but not a can't miss guy in practice drills. So this to me is why he will probably fall short in getting a team to bite this year.
He's going to have to play in the G league or the real high level euro league to get in and he's going to have to be the same Gelo he's always been in those leagues. meaning he scores a lot of points and makes his 3's. |
He was a good high school scorer, in a system that is dad built around him for him to score, but he would have been a deep bench player in college. If not for his brother and his dad, this thread wouldn't exist, and 99.999999 percent of the people on this board would have no idea who the guy was. |

Gelo failed at UCLA. Nobody cares about high school results for a guy that was a disaster in college. |

On the court, he didn’t pass or fail. But that’s quite an off court blemish on his record. |

I'm guessing this surprises no one.

Former JBA player Brandon Phillips (@itsbphilly) tells me the league only paid him about 1/3 of what he was promised.
Had to pay for his own bags on every flight, so he saved nothing.
Owed two more checks but nobody’s returning his calls.
Gave up his eligibility for ~$1000. |

Sources on @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium: LiAngelo Ball has notified NBA G League teams that he is planning to enter player pool to sign a G League contract. Ball went undrafted in June NBA draft after playing in Lithuania last season.

Lavar did damage to his boys. Lonzo has enough talent to overcome it but doubt teams would wanna deal with Lavar for his less talented boys |

Talent wise LaMelo is on ZO's level if not better. But he's immature and doesn't play defense so far. This is a good perspective comparing him to other top talents. I think he's a lottery talent and will go in first 30 despite LaVar factor. Probably higher if he completes highschool and plays in G League for a year now that they are offering a lot more money to one and dones.

Aren’t the G League guys clearly better than the competition he faced in Lithuania? He needed to get A LOT better just to start for a horrible team in Lithuania. He is going to need to show a huge amount of improvement to make it in the G League. |

Nobody cares about what his father has to say in terms of his kid's talents. Don't let the media get you to buy into that.
Liangelo gets avoided because he didn't prove anything in college because of what he did in China, which dropped his stock.
Had Liangelo played in college and averaged 15 PPG or something, and then went a second year and averaged 18+ he'd have been drafted most likely.
Liangelo doesn't gave LaVar to blame for what's happened with him, only himself. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
