The guy is an absolute beast. IMO he can still be the best in the NBA for 2 years...when he turns 36 he might start slipping a bit, but maybe not ...MJ won his last title at 36....the bottom line is he's amazing and the fact we have him in unreal. |

Honestly, I think this is why he joined a young team like the Lakers. Understood that those young legs will help him as he ages.
Unlike MJ/Kobe, LBJ has size and can shift down effectively as he ages. He can retain strength through years 34-36 even as his quickness slips away. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

LeBron certainly can. he’ll ease into the 4 spot more and more. Just like Malone, he already developed his jumpers... and in 2 yrs, BI/Kuz/Lonzo/Hart gonna be seasoned and looking real good (if still with team) |

Lebron plays with so much ease. No wasted energy and efficient.
I think this is ithe first time in a while that teams can't just focus on him
Also he does not have to be the primary ballhandler
We got Kuz, Zo, Ingram that they would have to worry about |

Yeah that's 30-20-10 in 36.
With the pace we'll play this year, there will be some games where he'll put crazy numbers, like a 20-20-20 or something like that... |

I had done the math and the mileage certainly isn't the same, but in terms of age, this season and next season for Lebron are essentially equivalent to MJ's 97 and 98 back to back seasons. When the playoffs begins this year, Lebron will be 4 months in age 34. Jordan was 2 months into age 34 when playoffs started in 97. The GOAT was also the best player in the NBA around this stage of his career. So what Lebron is doing isn't quite unprecedented yet. It's what he might do in his 3rd and 4th year with us that may wow us. On the flip side, you could say it's already WOW considering how much more mileage he has on MJ at this point.
But man, if you think about it, MJ's scoring pace was just astronomical. In terms of piling on points, Kobe and Lebron had the advantage of essentially 6 extra seasons. MJ spent 3 yrs in college, 2 yrs playing baseball, a broken leg in his second NBA season where he only played 18 games. That's basically 6 seasons of pts he would have had.
Right now in terms of comparing Lebron to MJ's greatness, I think of rings and what MJ missed out on in terms of points. But at some point, if Lebron keeps going like an energizer battery, then that itself is a feat. How do you maintain such a high level of play with so much mileage? At some point you would have to recognize longevity as a GOAT quality. Not just "hanging-around" longevity and being a burden, but the "best in the game" longevity. MJ retired relatively early, and Kareem didn't do "best in the game" longevity, he did "hanging around" longevity. If Lebron breaks Kareems record while doing "best in the game" longevity, then you can make a strong case for him as GOAT. |

I'm feeling the same Lebron looks much happier here than he was in Cleveland and so does Rondo looks to have found a home The overall mood of the team seems to be very positive For so many new players they seem to have bonded well. |

i agree
he does look like its overbearing in the game. hard to explain
so comfortable. i like the limited minutes because that means he can play less minutes and be impactful |

That efficiency though, I think this fast pace is actually really good for him. Cause on the break they worry about Lonzo passing, Ingram slashing, and they can't really focus on LeBron anymore. This last game looked our best all of preseason and the pace is insane with lonzo |

There’s so many points of attract the defense doesn’t know what to do. All we need now is for the team to get comfortable with each other, know their spots, and have the spot up shooters in their places when the penetration is blocked off. |

Informative, factual and very well put. In the end I think there will be a case made for him as being the GOAT. Thank you. |

https://nba.nbcsports.com/2018/10/11/kobe-bryant-advised-jeanie-buss-to-fire-her-brother-so-lakers-would-have-better-chance-of-signing-lebron-james/
Quote: | Kobe Bryant advised Jeanie Buss to fire her brother so Lakers would have better chance of signing LeBron James
The Lakers’ failed pursuits of star free agents late in the Jim Buss-Mitch Kupchak regime had become a running joke, and the stakes were getting raised even higher. LeBron James – the greatest player of his generation, maybe of all-time – had interest in the Lakers.
Lakers owner Jeanie Buss fired Jim Buss and Kupchak and installed Magic Johnson as team president. Johnson cleaned up the Lakers’ mess and lured LeBron. Everything worked out great for the Lakers.
But Jeanie naturally felt apprehensive about firing her brother before actually doing it. As she mulled the decision, Kobe Bryant offered guidance.
Bryant’s advice, via Sam Amick of The Athletic:
“Jeanie, I know who we’re trying to get; we know who we’re trying to get, so that player is not going to come here with all of this (bleep) going on. It’s not going to happen,” Bryant told her. “So if you do want to have that focus, and go after that player, then I’m telling you that you’ve gotta clean house, and you’ve gotta just reshuffle the deck and start anew. You have the new practice facility (the UCLA Health Training Center) that we’re just moving into (in the summer of 2017). We’ve got new management, and off we go. But that player is not coming here unless you do that.
“As a player, it’s like, listen, it’s a cultural thing. You’ve got to have the right culture around, especially for him at this stage of his career,” Bryant explained. “You don’t want to come to a team and deal with a bunch of (bleep), right? You don’t want to come here and be part of an organization where the walls are talking and stuff is getting out left and right and you have this camp and that camp. You don’t want to do that. So I said, ‘You’ve got to start anew.’”
As one himself, Kobe certainly knew what would appeal to a superstar player. Johnson has done exceptionally well so far, not just in building the roster, but uniting the organization. LeBron left the Cavaliers, at least in part, due to disagreement with upper management. It was helpful the Lakers presented an alternative.
We’ll never know what would have happened without Kobe delivering this message to Jeanie. Perhaps, she would have kept Jim and Kupchak. Maybe LeBron would have signed elsewhere.
But Jeanie Jim and Kupchak appeared heading toward getting fired, anyway. LeBron’s desire to sign in Los Angeles could have gone beyond the front office.
It’s also worth noting that some blamed Kobe for the Lakers’ inability to land star free agents. So, his message could have also carried another agenda – setting up Jim Buss and Kupchak as fall guys for the problem.
From any angle, it worked. |

And we had fans here on LG saying Mitch and Jim could have signed LeBron without Magic and Pelinka’s work.. it’s obvious everyone is taking the Lakers seriously now, and will take us even more serious when KD or Kawhi are donning the P&G.. next summer. |

I know many were worried he wouldn't wanna play fast since his cavs teams were pretty slow, but Lebron really does fit into any system if he has the right pieces around him. Loved the way he would zip the ball up court or take it himself if he had an opening. We have so many options in our transition game when he's leading the break or running the wing with BI, Zo, Rondo, Kuz, Hart, KCP, it's gonna end up in an easy 2 or a spot up 3. Can't wait to see how fast we are this year! |

The superstars run the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if Lebron already knew he was coming to the Lakers last year. Players and ex-players do a better job of recruiting because they know the lifestyle and are keen on helping their peers. How the Buss family treated Kobe at the end of his career went a long way towards getting Lebron and he knows that they probably won't trade him for salary relief. |

So Kobe wanted the Lakers to get Lebron. But some “fans” don’t. Interesting. |

C'mon now...
Prior to last season he played with Wade/Bosh and then Kyrie/Love. Defenses are still going to focus on him with the Lakers although I do believe Ingram certainly has the potential to develop into a legit 2nd option this season. |
