Of course I'm joking.
After what happened with Kobe/Dwight/Pau/Nash, I'm keeping my expectations in check. Wouldn't surprise me either way. We mesh like gang busters and the league is surprise. Or, we struggle and need to make a late push to even make the playoffs just like the 2013 squad.

We don’t have our 2nd round pick next year though. That pick is going to either Sacramento or Atlanta thanks to the Roy Hibbert trade with the Pacers in 2015. Pick has obviously been moved around a bit since then.
Not sure where you gathered this tid-bit, but I read that the Lakers traded next years second Round pick + Cash for La Bonga...!
no, Lakers traded chicago's future 2R pick which they acquired from Jose Calderon deal.
Got it, thanks... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

With how the Lakers have been drafting, it doesn’t make sense to trade away the pick. Just looking at the contract of a bottom 10 pick is dirt cheap.
They will get more value by stretching Deng and drafting a player they will control for 4 seasons.
there is a debate going on right now that makes this interesting. A decade ago, the answer from most would likely be use the pick to move the contract....cap space is more valuable than draft assets. That could still end up being true if recent years are more of an anomaly than new trend. In recent years more young players than in previous decades have been able to enter the league and contribute immediately.....and actually contribute to winning. Previously, mostly only a few select rookies and second year players contributed much of anything....and that was usually in a losing effort. If the current trend continues of young players contributing quickly in combination with the low cost and control the team has with these players you mentioned...then I agree, the draft assets are more valuable than the cap space.

- very good athlete that can play above the rim, score at all 3 levels, good passing vision, good handle and above average feet/quickness on defense.
Sagaba Konate - West Virginia University - Junior - C/PF
Last Season
- 11 PPG
- 8 RPG
- 1 APG
- over 3 Block's per game
- 16% Block Rate
- most gifted shot blocker in college basketball.....undersized
listening to Andy Katz podcast, and he had Bob Huggins (WVU Coach) as a guest.....Huggy Bear confirmed that the WVU offense this season will allow Konate to extend out to the 3 point line for pick n pops, etc. Claimed Sags has really improved his jumper over the last year, and will show NBA scouts that he is able to shoot the long ball.
Jeebus that angle where he dribbles it.... Under the right circumstances that dude could definitely do that in game. He didn't start accelerating until that last hesitation dribble by the three point line.
Love the reactions of the teammates. Barrett was definitely meh if you're judging on that.

My issue with Zion is what is he in the NBA? He has the build and game of a power forward but the height and length of a wing. The guy is 6'6" and listed at 285 lbs! Boban is 7'3" and only weighs 290 lbs.

I think he'll eventually slim down to 260.
His wingspan isn't that long either from what I've heard.
How is his shooting? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

He can probably be a Draymond level shooter in time. He'll take them and hit them at a decent clip when he's open, but it's not exactly pretty.
His jumper looks like Randle's. The step in lefty jumper. A bit clunky and mechanically slow. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
Does he look a little heavy? He can jump, but I don't know how that weight will translate to the NBA.
I'm sold on Zion. Short for a "big," heavy, yes. But just based on eye test, dude looks like a real pro, man among boys. Upgraded Julius Randle for sure, he has longer arms and looks much more comfortable shooting the jumper. Barkley of the 2000s.
And honestly, I know everyone is the highest on RJ Barrett, but on eye test again, I'd pick Zion.
Barrett doesn't seem to have explosiveness. Jumper looks good, is that why he's the top prospect of this year's draft? In a league of swingmen though, I don't see him being that much better than Zion in terms of impact. I can see Tatum, Ingram, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, even Josh Hart giving him some trouble athletically his rookie year, while someone like Zion I think will make an immediate impact just in terms of bully ball inside alone (those rebounds, holy crap).
Am I wrong in this just assessing via eye test?
Man if Lebron didn't come I'd be hoping we tank for Zion this season.

I don't know why I'm getting an Anthony Bennett feel.
Not saying they play the same, just some odd feel.
I think I'll be watching more Duke games this year for sure cuz he's a physical anomaly and I don't think college teams will be able to handle him.
That being said, who did Duke play last night? What team was it?
Team in Ontario, Canada. Ryerson. (Not the best school in CIS either)
I'll be really interested to see how top NCAA teams defend him. He's a monster, but doing it against Ryerson is one thing compared to say UNC or Kansas (which he may be able to). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

he is so gifted, his lack of length/height and heavy weight will likely not be a big issue in college....even in an elite conference like the ACC.....but I think those issues will be much more difficult to overcome at the next level.

I'm just thinking, this dude is much more athletic and a better shooter than Julius Randle was at that age, and last year Julius at his peak was averaging 19-10 for us. It will be an issue when he gets older or if he gets injured, but while healthy and young, he is going to be a problem.

his height and wingspan is several inches less than Randle....you do not think that will be an issue? Is Randle even in the league if he is 6'6"?
