No Andre Ingram?

And where is Wear?

Ingram’s story is over. Last I recall, he’s getting a movie deal.

Wear is a free agent.

Okay.

But I thought they needed shooting. Ingram and Matt Thomas can outshoot anyone on that SL roster.

And if Wear is a free agent, can’t he still play on the SL team? Again, he’s a shooter, and they need shooting, right?

The point of summer league is to showcase the majority of rookies and 2nd year players that haven’t gotten much playing time looking to prove themselves. Especially to those with even the slightest chance of making the team if they play well enough. That’s what Svi, Newman, Wagner, Pope, Bryant, etc are for.

And why Andre and Wear are no longer in that category.

Magic said Hart would only play in a couple games which I think is good. For those games I'm assuming the starters will be Caruso, Hart, Svi, Wagner and Bryant.

That's a pass first PG with four VERY good shooters. Hart and Wagner can do work as primary scorers when things break down. We also would sport two experienced guards which is probably the biggest advantage you can have in summer league.

Then Hart drops and it becomes a lot less clear how the team will operate. Caruso and Bryant have good experience together but the rest are just getting thrown into the pot. Defensively we're slow up front and don't really have an anchor. It will be interesting to see how Bryant has improved. He's still 20 years old and has a 9'4" standing reach. Wagner, who is imo more polished than a lot of the prospects playing in summer league, will have to be Kuzma-like for us to have a shot at the title.

Interesting how Issac Bonga isn’t on the roster.

So is he really being traded elsewhere after all? I get it that the trade isn’t “official” yet but it’s a little odd on how or why it wouldn’t be for this long unless Bonga is getting traded elsewhere again??

Lonzo should play. I want to see a preview of what we could be seeing next season. Since he will be one of the main pieces of the Lakers, the success or failure of the Lakers will be dependent on his progress. No pressure.

The trade cannot be announced until the July 6th moratorium is over. At that time the 76ers can accept cash back in the trade.

Sixers (who currently own the draft rights to Bonga) can't receive any more cash until the "next season", which begins July 6th when the moratorium ends. Thus, the trade will be completed on the 6th and Bonga will probably be available for the game on the 7th. Until then, the Lakers can't make any comments on him or announce him as a part of the team. Notice that the images that the Lakers released with their announcement had an asterisk below stating that the roster is subject to change.

Not expecting the same success we had last summer without Zo and Kuz. Just hoping our rooks and undrafted FAs show us something.

Last summer was the most exciting Lakers summer league since Kobe.

No regulars from the South Bay Lakers other than Caruso.

If Demarcus Holland develops a consistent 3 pt shot he would have a spot in the NBA. A very very good on ball defender with great lateral movement.

Trade cannot be official til July 6. Can't put Bonga on the roster since he's not a Laker yet.

Ohhhh...that makes more sense.

Just some thoughts on the lesser known players.

Mayes - doesn't look 6-4 but impressive ability to penetrate. Quick first step. Average 3pt shot. NBA quickness and athleticism. Interested to see his PG skills in the SL.

Holland - as noted above very very good on ball defender. Needs to develop better handles and 3 pt shot. No PG skills.

Branch - good length to harass on defense. Raw mechanics shooting form. No one standout skill. Good g-league player.

Carroll - reminds me of a lesser Zhaire Smith. Athletic leaper with questionable 3 pt shot. Want to see his defense in SL.

Berry - despite height and length limitations he might be able to carve out a spot in the NBA. Very similar to Fred Van Vleet.

Thomas and King - look like g-league players at this time.

The youngest player is Bryant who is 20. The second youngest is Svi. No 19 year olds on this team.

I assume Ball and Kuzma are not playing because they are potential trade pieces and it would be too risky due to potential injury.

I am interested to see how the Kings do.

Giles, Bagley, Fox and Mason are all on the summer league team.
