I was curious to learn who the LG community would rather build a franchise around if you could only choose one of the Sixers two main young prospects, Simmons or Embiid? This is assuming both players remain healthy over their careers, participating in an average of 75+ regular season games for the next 12-15 seasons.

I chose Embiid. Bigs with that kind of size and skill are extremely rare. Also, I don’t know if Simmons will ever learn to shoot.

Neither are mvp candidates, they’re just eastern conference stars. I’d rather build a team around Anthony Davis.

Embiid is a star. He's only played 94 games in two years. Still, he's one of the three finalists for DPoY and he'll probably come in top 10 voting in MVP, and likely would have made the top 5-7 if he hadn't missed 20 games.

The only concern about him is health, though he needs to work on his passing and turnovers.

Simmons is very good, and came close to making the all-star team as a rookie. The issue with him is he can't make a shot more than 9 feet out.

Simmons has more potential to correct his issue; I don't think Embiid's health will ever stop worrying people. But if I had to pick one, I'd go with Embiid because he's a special player.

Simmons.

Chose based on archetype. I mean, down the line, if Ben adds 10 or 20lbs in a typical NBA career like most do, he could even replace Embiid and the 76ers could have a different *better* point guard running the team.

That's how much talent he has.

Embiid. He's like a modern day Hakeem, and he has some guard skills, which means he can play in today's NBA.

I don't know if Simmons will ever be a legit scoring threat where he's easily averaging 20+ points. I'm not even sure how much hunger he has to score huge points.

What Simmons does is far more valuable in today's game. Not a knock on Embiid, whose defense and offense are both very much positive, but Simmons is a game controller in a far more unique skill to size ratio.

Embiid so far. If Simmons learns how to shoot, it may change the conversation.

Can't think of a single player who avoided taking any shots beyond 15 feet ever becoming an able or even decent shooter. For as bad a reputation as Kidd had as a shooter, he shot 3 threes a game as a rookie in the two-ball era.

All the current bigs who extended their range to the arc were all good mid-range shooters to begin with (Gasol bros, Lopez, Speights). Ben Simmons can't even figure what hand to shoot with. Though only about to turn 22, how many star players (or even key role players) became jumpshooting threats after passing up virtually every jumper their rookie year from any distance? (Manute Bol's three ball was more a novelty than a weapon)

So, Embiid.

Embiid can't guard the perimeter, and Simmons can't shoot or even score really.. so neither

Assuming health for Embiid...isn't that kind of a huge assumption?

A healthy Embiid I'd take over Simmons

Only 4% of Simmons shots were beyond 16 feet.

The fact that he can't hit free throws either is a bad sign.

I went with Simmons. Only because I am not sure whether or not Embiid will hold up with injuries. I wish him the best, but big men with a history of injuries... If just considering talent, I'd go with Embiid.

Embiid.

Simmons has a fatal flaw in is game that he's seemingly unwilling to fix.

That flaw alone is the reason why Simmons can never be a cornerstone of a team. Automatic disqualification.

Embiid, cause it's more difficult to build an offense around simmons.

you cannot have another playmaker or another non shooter (rim protector) but you still need a closer, as simmons needs the ball in his hand yet cannot create a shot from the dribble

They should first try a coaching change.
Simmons and Embiid are rare hard talents to find.

I would move the coach out, who is not all that great IMO, and done enough from where he began to now, and see how it goes.

Try a new offense and defense, scheme. New voice. See what happens.

You will not find talents like Simmons or Embiid easily. Unlike some of the Laker draft lotto picks, I think these two have talent to become legit superstars eventually.

Look at what Buldenhozer did for Milwaukee and Giannis. Kidd was important for Giannis development and his game. Giannis loved Kidd. But Kidds tactics and schemes and voice ran its course. Now they needed new ones. In came MB and now Bucks and Giannis are on a different level.

Think the Sixers are the same. The other thing, for the life of me I do not get why they signed Al Horford and Harris when they already had two big guys in Simmons and Embiid. To me they needed someone like DAngelo Russell or a Kyre, or Kemba. They needed some sort of shooting-combo guard to get them a balanced trio. What do I know though.

EMBIID ALL DAY, athletic taller version of Joker, heir apparent to Hakeem, superb twitter game and can shoot

Would y'all take Ingram over Simmons? would you over Embiid?

Honestly, I'm hoping Philly's management doesn't appreciate what your saying about that duo, because they are a force, and even kinda scary. The only reason they got JE was an injury he had coming out of Kansas. Otherwise, he goes No.1.

They're unique. I'd feel a whole lot better about competing against that duo if my duo of AD was 26, and LeBron 27 or whatever
