First off, I know the possibility of this happening is next to none, but my question is... IS it even possible?

There are rumors going around that Kawhi is unhappy with the Spurs organization. For the sake of this hypothetical, let's say it is true. What if he demands a trade and with 1 year left on his deal, we shipped off our Ball and Ingram WITH Deng. We would only do that if we knew LeBron and PG13 would sign. Maybe even get Danny Green somehow in the deal by packaging Cleveland's 1st.

Imagine a lineup of

Green
PG13
Kawhi
LeBron
a good screen setting and rebounding center

Imagine that team defensively. And then on offense, LeBron is the PG and has shooters all around.

I know it sounds ridiculous, so what are your thoughts?

I'd take PG and Kawhi. LeBron could go to hell for all I care or maybe even the moon to play with the Monstars.

LeBron + PG (hopefully Randle)

if not, PG + Randle then in 2019, Leonard.

That's the vision

If Lebron joins the Lakers, he might ask the commissioner to have the Lakers play in the East Conference.

I'm sorry, but I get really grossed out when fans want to gut our young core and replace them with megastars. Like, really?

All of the losing, tanking, struggles of the last few years (in order to even draft these young guys) just to give up on them for proven stars. It's cheap and easy.

I want to see this group grow, progress, and become something special in front of our very eyes. I want to shut all the naysayers up who say we'll never win again or that our core won't amount to anything.

These type of pipe-dreams are the reason why so many other fanbases despise us. Wake up, people.

We love to dream here at LG. A few years ago it was Westbrook, then DeRozan. Now lets see if PG13 would become just another dream. Next year, it's gonna be Klay? AD? We are the Los Angeles Dreamers.

I'll bet this entire Board will explode if any of those guys or all of them went over to the Clippers...
ijs

IMO, reality is simply that we will end up with Two Top Tier "Free-Agents" next year. I think one of them will unquestionably be Paul George.

I think LeBron would find his way over to the Clippers and they keep DJ on lock and they're once again right in the hunt of things...

I think Kawhi is a toss-up and if anything will be traded to the east coast for one year and then possibly wind up back over here in the West.

The only reason why I give the scenario of the clippers is simply because they always find a way to get involved in deals especially when the Lakers are at the forefront...

Ultimately "Free-Agents" should be the goal, but we do have a ton of leverage already proving that our young guys can play, contribute and have a ton of upside! With that being said, I believe anything is possible this off-season/Free-Agency. Guys I believe we should target without selling the farm and making us a playoff team:

Paul George (He's the All-Star we need as a focal point)
Isaiah Thomas (He's our own FA and we need to resign him)
Julius Randle (One of ours should be a priority to keep or for leverage)
Nerlens Noel (We've been pondering this guy for a while, he's UFA makes sense)

I already posted this in another thread but here's a plan on how to get all three (although highly unlikely):

1. Trade Deng + Zubac + 2018 1st + 2019 1st for Taj Gibson (expiring k) and Cole Aldrich (expiring k), waive Aldrich.
2. Sign PG.
3. S&T Julius + Ingram + 2019 2nd for Kawhi.
4. Sign LeBron.
5. Pick up Tyler Ennis' option.
6. Pick up Thomas Bryant's option.
7. Re-sign Channing Frye for the Vet. Min.
8. Re-sign Lopez with our remaining cap room.
9. Sign Seth Curry with the Room Exception.
10. Offer two-way contract to Travis Wear.

Ball/Curry/Ennis
Kawhi/Hart
George/Kuzma/#47
LeBron/Gibson/Wear (two-way)
Lopez/Frye/Bryant

Trading Deng for two guys with expiring contracts won't create any cap space for 2018-19. You'd only get cap space after the season when their contracts were over. For 2018-19, Gibson and Aldrich would still count for $20 million against the cap.
