I've gone every year for the past couple of years. It's an amazing event especially if you're a basketball junkie like me. An all-day ticket for up to 6 games a day? For less than $30? Lol. Yes, please!
Tickets go on sale monday.. but I like to wait until the schedule is released so I can plan my days accordingly to make sure I see as many Laker games as possible for the time I'm there lol.
The Laker crowd rolls deep out there.. I can tell the games are gonna be LIT lol |
I booked my room already. Great excuse to go out there |
out of curiosity, (i'm out of state), where is good/cheap place to book rooms? |
Depends on how cheap you want to go. Personally, I need a bar and casino downstairs.
Cheap would be Excalibur, Luxor, treasure island, Monte Carlo, harrahs.
I always suggest staying on the strip unless you absolutely hate crowds. An uber will cost you $10 to the arena. |

I stayed at the Hard Rock Casino last time I was there for Dlo's SL debut. Only about a half mile or so from the arena, so walking distance if you don't mind the dry heat. I got a deal for only about 50 bucks a night (not including the BS resort fee), but dunno if that's still available. |

Btw, don't spring for the court side seats (if they're still selling those). Get to the arena early and you can sit nearly courtside anyway since it's first come first served for seats. Not worth the huge price jump to 200 bucks (iirc) for the courtside seats.
It was Laker fan central when I was there. If we keep our pick this season and Ball/Fultz/Jackson make an appearance on our SL team, I'm sure it'll be even crazier. |

I'm more excited this year than usual.
I didn't know what expect from Zubac last season, he was a positive surprise and I was not expecting much from Ingram, it was clear watching him in college that it is going to take time with him.
I feel like we can't miss this season selecting one of the top three prospects. I believe a player like Ball may have an immediate impact running a summer league squad. |

I was worried a bit about Ball at first, but now that I've had a closer look I'm really intrigued about how Ball could fit in Luke's offense alongside DLO, Ingram, and, well just about everyone else on this Laker squad.
Still, any of the top prospects, plus Zubac and ingram, are going to be a real treat to watch this time around. Tiny Dog is a LOT more aggressive than he was 12 months ago, and I'm looking forward to seeing if Zubac can dominate again.
Should be fun! |

If they draft Ball, I'll probably be out there cause I want to see Ingram dominate and Zubac dominate as well. But I would be more intrigued with Ball there too. Plus, it's Vegas, plenty of stuff to do out there |

bit of advice.....stay at the Trump Hotel (nothing political related)....but it is so great to roll into the hotel at 4AM and not have to walk through the casino and all its glory at that time in the morning....plus its a great hotel. Once I stayed there once, I totally quit staying at the casino hotels. I visit them, have my fun, then go back to my quiet peaceful 5 Star hotel. |

i personally like the sound of the slot machines and the craziness when i get downstairs, but get what you're saying. Vdara has the same set up, and it's right next to Aria in case you just need to be at a craps table.
the only good thing about being a terrible team and keeping these picks, is that it gives me a reason to get out to the desert oasis for a couple days. rarely there otherwise. |

I was going even before they got an influx of #2 picks lol. It's such a fun event. I love all basketball so honestly just being able to watch it live (Lakers tickets as you know are expensive AF lol) is great.
Plus, you always see the players up close around in the lobby and whatnot.
I think last year or the year before Michael Carter-Williams sat right next to me.. I didn't say anything but a casual head nod lol. Then, the next day I was all the way up in the back and Chris Broussard sat down right behind me ha.
As for the hotel.. I'm a snob so I usually stick to Vdara the Cosmopolitan or places like that.. but due to the MyVegas app I get free rooms at Excalibur and like hotels. Excalibur honestly isn't that bad of a hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. Also, it's right on Tropicana so its easy to get to the arena.
Vdara and Aria usually have a good amount of players staying there. I saw quite a few groups of players there including Trey Lyles and Jon Leuer. Mike Brown was there too. |

NBA Free Agency Rumors: The Lakers worked out multiple free agents this week
You might have even heard of some of them!
http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2017/5/27/15704038/nba-free-agency-rumors-la-lakers-nba-draft-brady-heslip-brandon-ashley-las-vegas-summer-league
Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype reports that the Lakers Brady Heslip, Eric Moreland, Brandon Ashley, Elgin Cook, Justin Cobbs, Alec Brown, Stephan Hicks and Jerrelle Benimon on Wednesday.
All eight players are currently free agents with varying levels of NBA or D-League pedigree, and likely are being looked at for a shot to make the Lakers’ Las Vegas Summer League roster. |

I'll be in Vegas the weekend before summer league starts. Luckily it's only a 3-4 hour drive back. I will probably do a turn around on the 7th |

Summer league schedule: https://twitter.com/MarkG_Medina/status/875384513768996865/photo/1
It's finally here!
We're so lucky to be living in an era where even summer league is televised. Man, remember when Lakers games against an east coast team was on tape delay? And for the older folk, remember when games playoff games werent live? Woo wee!

Lakers guaranteed at least 5 summer-league games with a solid roster (No. 2 and 28 picks, Ingram + Zubac). All games will be on @SpectrumSN |
Beautiful. |
