Metta has been one of my favorite Lakers. He's all heart. Every time he stepped on the court he gave 1000% effort. He's gracious, funny and kind -- nothing like the way he was portrayed in the media before he arrived here. Like Kobe said, there's no Game 7 win without MWP. It's been a pleasure. Best of luck.

Thanks for everything Ron, I will never forget the game-winner against the Suns and you're big game against the Celtics in Game 7... I hope someone picks you up.. from the waiver wire.

Ron youre a true laker...always so proud to be part of the purp and gold! Never made excuses, always played hard with passion, and most importantly a stand up guy Im gonna miss all of your entertaining interviews. Rons always welcome in LA! We love you!
Loved the way he brought it each game, and helped set the tone early in so many big playoff games. Still cringed at many of his shots, and the actual shot selection, but you knew that he would always go back and make up for it defensively. Going to miss having him on the court (not sure if he was really a chemistry guy in the locker room, but it looked as though he often found a way to lighten the atmosphere and what otherwise looked like a pretty distant team).
Hopefully he can just retire, and remain with the Lakers in some capacity. Even though he only played a few years for us, he'll be remembered by me as a Laker for life.
Thank you MWP for playing with such pride and passion every game. Thanks for entertaining us these past few years. As far as we fans are concerned, you are a Laker for life.
Thank you Metta. Nobody played for the Lakers with more heart, more intensity without ever taking a play off.
I watched the highlights of Game 7 2010 again, and there you were on every possession -- forcing Pierce left, scrapping for an offensive rebound, grabbing a loose ball, having it knocked away and fighting and fighting til you stole it back! That game exemplified your heart and passion, and the post-game celebration was beautiful ("Kobe passed me the ball!")
We love you and your family and you will always be a true warrior and Laker in our hearts.
You have become a better person than all your critics -- you've grown as a human being and as one of the most sincere and kind players in the NBA . We know you'll continue to do wonderful things for your community wherever you are.

I hope everyone passes...no one bids on him and we resign him...

agreed with this post and just about all the other positive one in this thread. it is so true. this is means more to use than dwight leaving. Ron was and IS a true Laker.
Metta you will be missed. Lakers nation will be a much more boring place without you. I selfishly hope you retire because I'm going to hate seeing you in a different jersey. A sad day. I'm depressed over this.
i still remember metta telling kobe in the shower. that he would help him beat the celtics.
and just like that. BAM. game 7, MWP to the rescue. _________________ LAL4K3RS wrote: He(Kobe) is the white haired kung fu master that you realize is older than dirt but can still kick your arse when in a sitting position drinking a nice herbal tea.

We can't re-sign him until next off-season.
